With the news of Ugly Betty’s cancellation hitting the web on Wednesday, the cast is now very much sought-after for pilot-season. In an article from the Hollywood Reporter, they talk about how the producers of the show are trying to wrap production before the previously scheduled March 25 date so the actors can do pilots. Broadcast pilots generally film from the beginning of March through the end of April. Here’s what they said about Becki:
“Betty” co-star Becki Newton, also in a sought-after category of beautiful 30-year-old comedic actresses, has additionally been inundated with calls.
I bet she has! Becki is a beautiful and very talented actress, and I would love to see her on a great and funny TV-show, new or already on-air. I now have a question for you: What do you think Becki should do after Ugly Betty?
According to TheaterMania.com, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency has announced an updated list of engagements for Winter/Spring 2010.
Performers scheduled to appear at the club include Karen Oberlin (January 9), Julie Reyburn (January 12), Eric Michael Gillett (January 15-16), Daryl Glenn (January 17), Sue Matsuki (January 31), Gregg Edelman (February 7-8), Ashley Brown (February 14), Ryan Silverman (February 15), Michael Urie and Becki Newton (February 21), Howard McGillin (March 21), Jenna Esposito (March 22), Christopher Fitzgerald (March 28), Megan Hilty (April 26), and Louis St. Louis (May 24).
Ugly Betty will end after this season, ABC announced today.
“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion,” ABC and the show’s producers wrote in a statement. “We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”
The ABC show will be cut from 22 episodes to 20 for its fourth and final season, according to EW’s Michael Ausiello.
Personally, I was shocked to hear this, especially since the show just kept improving and the current season getting great reviews. I guess it just didn’t help for the fact that the ratings have gone downhill for some time now. At least we’ll get to see Ugly Betty go out with a bang; ’cause if the first part of the season was good, I can only imagine what they will be doing for the remaining episodes!
Here’s a great piece of news; Becki is scheduled to appear on Live With Regis & Kellytomorrow, January 20! Check back to Becki-Newton.org after the show for (hopefully) a video and screencaptures of her appearance.
First of all, I’d like to say that I’m sorry for not updating the site for a while. There simply haven’t been much news regarding Becki and her career. Secondly, I want to wish a Happy New Year to all of you! I’m sure this year will bring us lots of Becki-related treats, and Becki-Newton.org will be here all the way. :)
Now, onto the news; the very first episode of Ugly Betty this year airs tonight! After the move to Fridays last fall, the show lost viewers but gained lots and lots of positive reviews from both fans and critics. So now ABC are moving the show to their Comedy Wednesdays instead! Be sure to support Becki and Ugly Betty by watching the new episode tonight! Check back soon again for screencaptures from it, right here at Becki-Newton.org!
“We’re just getting coffee. Co-worker coffee, not I-wanna-sleep-with-you coffee.“
- Amanda Tanen Sommers
Wow, this was an eventful episode! Lots of expected – and unexpected – things happened. And best of all – tons of Amanda! They really crammed as much as they possibly could in 40 minutes, so I wouldn’t mind this being a two-parter instead. Still, it was a great episode and I’m so happy with the way Amanda is growing up. Becki truly does a fantastic job on the show. And did she look extra gorgeous in this episode, or what?! Check out lots of screencaptures by clicking on the previews below, as per usual.
As previously mentioned by Becki and Michael, they did a video podcast whilst on the Bahamas to film tomorrow’s episode of Ugly Betty; “The Bahamas Triangle”. It’s finally here, and you can watch it below! They filmed the podcast at the Atlantis Resort, accompanied by a sea lion named Cassie. As always, thanks to the great YouTube-member IrenePrysbrowsky for posting the video.
This week’s episode of Ugly Betty sure looks to be a special one – “The Bahamas Triangle” takes place (and was filmed) on the Bahamas! According to the synopsis, “the love triangle between Betty, Matt and Amanda explodes, and romantic pairings abound.” And based on the previews, the episode will feature a whole lot of Becki as Amanda! Becki’s brother, Matt Newton, also guest stars as Troy! Watch several previews below, and read the full synopsis after the cut.
Support Ugly Betty by watching the – very exciting – new episode on Friday, December 4, on ABC! Then check back to Becki-Newton.org later for coverage!
It’s officially happening! According to producer Jim Klever Weis and The Ausiello Files, Ugly Betty is moving to Wednesdays at 10PM! The show will be moving once it returns from the holiday hiatus on January 6! I can’t say how relieved I am for the show (and especially for Becki, who loves working on the show!) to see the show moving from the awful Friday-spot it’s currently in.
Also, don’t forget to catch this week’s episode of Ugly Betty, “The Bahamas Triangle”, airing this Friday on ABC! Previews from this episode are coming up in a few. Stay tuned!
